Here's the final word on nutrition and health. It's a relief to know the truth after all those conflicting medical studies. 1. The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. 2. The Mexicans eat a lot of fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. 3. The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. 4. The Italians and French drink excessive amounts of red wine and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. 5. The Germans drink a lot of beer and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans. CONCLUSION: Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.PARK AVENUE CLEANERS 720 St. Michael's Dr. Suite K. Sante Fe, NM Hours: Mon-Fri.......7am-6pm...Sat...9am-6pm

Scrambled Eggs When I was seventeen, I pruned the future of my own family tree. Some friends and I had learned that you can make a plastic two liter bottle explode by using dry ice and water to create pressure inside the capped bottle. We gathered up as many plastic soda bottles as we could, obtained dry ice from the icehouse, and planned targets for this particular brand of mayhem. After the first “dry ice bomb” had gone off, we were left disappointed with the length of time it took to actually blow. Our first idea was to use a smaller bottle, but on-liter bottle only created a weaker, but still painfully delayed, explosion. The second idea was to use warm water to drive a faster reaction with the dry ice. This created a more reasonable time for us to wait until the sweet satisfaction of being a successful teenage vandal came to fruition. Now we become greedy. If warm water make it better, then hot water must make it even better still! Yours truly was the one to try it. I added ice, poured scalding hot water into the bottle, and capped the “bomb.” I recall an immediate ringing in my ears, and blood, and plastic shards. The hospital was only a mile away, but it seemed like a light year. At the hospital, I was rushed in and quickly assessed. Due to the way I had been cradling the bottle, my groin and thighs took most of the damage from plastic shrapnel. At the age of thirty, I have many scars to remind me of my teenage stupidity, but none as monumental as my pair of silicone testes!El Camino Real Scenic Byway Awarded Grant U.S. Representative Tom Udall, D-N.M., recently announced $59,646 in federal funding to make improvements to the City of Española El Camino Real Scenic Byway alignment. Awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the federal grant will assist in the implementation of the scenic corridor management plan. “The beauty of El Camino Real is as diverse and colorful as its culture, history, and people. Many of our historic roads connect us not only to each other, but also connect us to an earlier time in our history,” said Udall, who thanked Transportation Secretary Norm Mineta for his help in securing the funds. “Investing in this byway is one of the best ways to bring travel and tourism money to the communities located along the corridor.” Designation of a Scenic Byway is based on six intrinsic qualities: cultural, historic, archaeological, recreational, natural, and scenic. Udall said El Camino Real National Scenic Byway was designated as a state Scenic Byway in 1994 and a National Scenic Byway in 1998. The byway designation, based on the historic Royal Road, which led from México City into Nuevo México, ran from the Texas border to the Santa Fe Plaza. However, the first Spanish capital of New Mexico was established in 1598 at San Juan Pueblo and remained there until it was relocated to Santa Fe in 1610. Last February, the New Mexico Department of Transportation officially extended the byway to San Juan Pueblo.
